I need seriouce and straith way advice. Others members please contribute.

The thing is I have purchased Visionet .After 3 months it is gone .No more support

Then I took this Technomate 888 plus. No support for TPS now .It had support but now not.aldough other receivers got it.

I think my old SS2 is better now.

I do not like to spend more money without knowing wheater my receiver will have good suport.But I know only for ss2 that it is ok and has regular updates. and it suports CZ...

From another hand I do not like t o waist computer just for it.

I am looking for receiver that has good support and it will have it in future. Like dream or SS2. Ido not know and I do not have good experience about receivers exept SS2.

Please advice . criterium is suport.

Please post your comments advices or experience.

Also here in middle east it seams that some clones or less known receivers got better support than others

Like now we have suport for starsat .... but not for humax nor for summy

Support issue is related to number of owners the box has. More people that have some receiver more chance to have people develop something for it. The thing with linux box is that it is open source and everyone can develop stuff for it. So if you want something that it is gone last for a longer period I think linux based box should be a good choice.
As for non-linux receivers I think some of the older models have best support, because of the number of them that has been sold. Samsung9500, Humax5400. Goldboxes I think also have very good support, because people with great knowledge are working on software for them.

You don't need sky star plugins or emus on dreambox. It has its own emus and keys. Which you can find here on sat universe. They open same channels as vplug. Vplug has some things implemented few days sooner then we get it on dreambox because Vahid is doing a great job on Vplug.

As for developing an emu for dreambox, anyone with enough of programming and satellite encryption knowledge can do it. But that doesn't leave too many people

I don't mean keys are released few days later for dreambox. When the key is known it can be applied on all platforms that support that encryption.
But when there is some algo change like with tps. New emu with that change implemented will probably appear for ss2 few days sooner then on dreambox. But then again, there has been things in the past that have been implemented on dreambox sooner then on ss2. So that shouldn't really be the criteria.

I can't really remember any specific example of what has been developed sooner. But I am sure there was plenty things. I haven't kept track.
As four sources, you can find sources of enigma and some other stuff used on dreambox:

As to developing emu, it is pretty hard job I am sure, although I have no programming knowledge(at least not this sort). You can see a small bit wich is like 1% of complete code of one emu.

Why is memory necessary

is there any more adventage agaist 500s regarding emulation and decodingor it is just mroe images pictures, plug ins and recording ..

Regarding emulation and decoding all 3 boxes are the same. The diffrence is in memory, and hard disk slot. Dm500 doesn't have possibility of fitting hd in it. Which doesn't have to be that big of disadvantage, since you can use ngrab plugin to record programming from dm500 to your pc hard disk. If you are going for the price I'd suggest dm500. If price is not an issue then you could wait for dm8000 . Since it should have high definition support, twin tuners, and slot for dvd-rw.
