Hello, guys!

Having pestered (as much as was kinda tolerable, hehe

) some people around me (see "credits") - of course, all in order to learn - and having tested a lot, re-installed many an image, a sea of plugins, skins and whatnot, then having written a "bit" about it - I tried making a nice and easy to read guide...

My idea was to try putting myself in newbie shoes, ergo more-or-less all is there, from preparation, psychological and technical, onwards to lots of detailed "how to" for Power Board stuff, OSCam and so on...... I hope I succeeded...

The PDF file has a vertical column on the left side. The second icon from the top is BOOKMARKS. If you click on it you will get a means to go to the part you need, in an instant, without the need to scroll down through it all...

I would especially like to thank my wife, for her editing expertise and help with the nice functions, like table of content (which also is link-like, so it instantly takes you to the part of text you need), bookmarks etc.

Cleaned up a bit from common spelling mistakes etc. But also:

-added "Anticascading protection from theft in OSCam"
-added a warning - not to use for commercial gain
-added a PB watermark (thanx Truffy!!!)

But PB had no access to the latest drivers when they made it, that is to say the GIT at the time was not up-to-date... as per usual...:confused::(

So, if the drivers improve... maybe... one day...:rolleyes:

But...you can install e2 after RTi 1.6 and uncheck kernel....
And if needed save on you HDD (local copy using DCC) contents of :
1)/lib folder
2)/usr/lib
and then you have it all, latest kernel optional drivers, enigma plug-in including attributes....
Of course you can save bin, sbin, emu....etc

This is a hard way of running multiboot like Barryallen but once you do it you might like it.

And when you have to overwrite a folder rename the previous "_old"
If you screw-up something telnet, DCC or Filezilla delete the latest and rename back the old one.
Works for me 9 of 10 times

PB advise us not to mix various stages of development inside a single image of theirs, as it may screw up things big time, when only the re-install helps...

Better to wait for a GIT update and then PB make a new image... ;)

Some people like to wait, some like to risk and sometimes brick their boxes.

I did mine too and it took more than 8 hours to re-flash...few month ago.

If you like the risk...do it...if not....wait for the updates.

One way or the other AZBox is a nice box to play...i wish the drivers will have the VTuner / USB Tuner built in.

If only RTi Team would update their GIT properly, promptly and fully, so PB could do another, new one... :shoot: :hammer:

I presume you are asking about the new image, v. 5.1, that is...

In the old one it may well be root and nothing (empty), can't remember now, it was long ago... :)
