Have you decided on the equipment you are going to install? It might help if you provide details of the system you are hoping to purchase or have already purchased?.
The options for a 1.2m motorised dish would be to use a diseqc motor to move the dish or a 36 volt motor to move the dish such as a linear actuator or an H-H motor.

If your planned dish location is sheltered and not exposed to strong winds you could probably get away with using a diseqc motor.
However, if the proposed install location is exposed with strong wind likely on the dish I would suggest a 36 volt motor installation.

A diseqc motor can be controlled directly by the satellite receiver. the motor and short dish pole part are all in the same unit and use the LNB cable for power.
A 36 volt motor needs a controller of some type such as a v-box to move the dish and requires 4 core 36 volt motor/pulse cable.

The installation requirements for diseqc and 36 volts are different so you need someone who has experience with the type of install you go for.

Do you know it used to be only a 1m dish was allowed on the house. Is this a permanent thing? I have a 1.3m dish but it is only used for short periods of time and is at ground level. I take it down when summer arrives. Maybe the rules have been changed.

Thanks for your reply, really appreciated.

I've been recommended a Triax TD1.1 dish, Darkmotor or TM2600 diseqc motor, Technomate TM5402HD CI Super+M3 & Black Ultra LNB. This equipment should cover what I want it for, blind scan, BISS keys etc.

It wont be exposed to high winds

Thanks gain

Is the dish going on on south facing wall? ,also depending on length and how much of the pole is above the top K can make a big difference in stability Probably best to get the installer to advise on T and K brackets and length of pole after assessing your particular situation. Maximum dish size is still 1m and if needed 60cm secondary dish on chimney. I had a 1.1m triad on the front of the house then later a 1.2m gibby on back of house and 80cm orbital,tv,,fm and dab Ariel on my chimney without problems. Just make sure the system is installed as discreet as will allow for maximum arc coverage ,regards
