Network problem with Strong 4900

I have changed the image to the latest version and sometimes later I have lost all Network connection. Strong 4900 has this little daughter board that is connected to the rear serial port while the Ethernet cable is connected to this dongle.

What I want to know if there is anyway I can check that the hardware is functioning (the daughter board or dongle as you wish to call it) before I mess around with the software. I press 8281 to get to the card***** menu ?

trouble with str 4900 hd with internet connection

hi i got the 4900 couple month ago i wanted to use the newcamd sharing system but i couldnt get any connection with the router the ip setting remains empty i got the latest software 147 and still got the trouble where as my friend who has the 4930 get quick connection as he inserts the modem can someone help me it seems the 4900 cant work with this newccamd option?!!
