I have n501 6 years and I know which file is going to n501
when I tray upload file (rp t013 nb501.rar)the first get
little window with first message Error3 and after that
the second message Error6(in the leftdown corner of win5.panel)

means the com port is closed during update ... if you have usb2seriell adapter try other drivers
