As the film reaches its climax, the future of Air hangs in the balance; will Björn's technical prowess, stage presence, and be enough to take him to the top, or will C. Color Me Kubrick

Studio: Magnolia Pictures
Director: Brian W. Cook
Screenwriter:
Anthony Frewin
Starring: John Malkovich, Honor Blackman, Bryan Dick, Leslie Phillips, James Dreyfus, Luke Mably, Nitin Chandra Ganatra, Angus Barnett, Lynda Baron
Genre: Comedy, Drama

Plot Summary:
For months Alan Conway, a perfect stranger, passed himself off as one of the greatest film directors of all time, Stanley Kubrick.

Conway knew nothing of the filmmaker or his films, but this didn't prevent him from using and abusing the credulity of those who thought they had come in contact with the mythical and equally discreet director. His success was founded not only on boundless chutzpah but also on the fact that Kubrick's real face and voice were practically unknown since - like Terence Malick and Chris Marker - he remained one of filmdom's few stubborn holdouts in the Fame Game.

The Last Mimzy

Studio: New Line Cinema
Director: Bob Shaye
Screenwriter:
Bruce Joel Rubin, Toby Emmerich
Starring: Timothy Hutton, Joely Richardson, Rainn Wilson, Michael Clarke Duncan, Rhiannon Leigh Wryn, Chris O'Neil
Genre: Adventure, Drama, Family, Sci-Fi

Plot Summary:
Based on the acclaimed sci-fi short story by Lewis Padgett, "The Last Mimzy" tells the story of two children who discover a mysterious box that contains some strange devices they think are toys. As the children play with these "toys," they begin to display higher and higher intelligence levels. Their teacher tells their parents that they seem to have grown beyond genius. Their parents, too, realize something extraordinary is happening. Emma, the younger of the two, tells her confused mother that one of the toys, a beat-up stuffed toy rabbit, is named Mimzy and that "she teaches me things."

As Emma's mom becomes increasingly concerned, a blackout shuts down the city and the government traces the source of the power surge to Emma's family's house. Things quickly spin wildly out of their control. The children are focused on these strange objects, Mimzy, and the important mission on which they seem to have been sent. When the little girl says that Mimzy contains a most serious message from the future, a scientific scan shows that Mimzy is part extremely high level electronic, and part organic! Everyone realizes that they are involved in something incredible…but exactly what?

"The Last Mimzy" features an ensemble cast that includes Timothy Hutton ("Ordinary People," "General's Daughter"), Joely Richardson ("The Patriot," "Nip/Tuck"), Rainn Wilson ("The Office"), Michael Clarke Duncan ("The Green Mile"), and newcomers Rhiannon Leigh Wryn and Chris O'Neil as the children, Emma and Noah. It is produced by Michael Phillips ("The Sting," "Close Encounters of the Third Kind") and directed by Bob Shaye (executive producer of, among other films, "The Lord of the Rings" trilogy). Shaye is also founder, Co-Chairman, and Co-CEO of New Line Cinema.

"The Last Mimzy" is based on the 1943 short story "Mimsy Were the Borogoves" by Lewis Padgett (a pseudonym for Henry Kuttner and his wife, C. L. Moore); the adapted screenplay is by Bruce Joel Rubin ("Ghost," "Deep Impact") and Toby Emmerich ("Frequency"). The film's production team also includes composer Howard Shore ("The Lord of the Rings" trilogy), editor Alan Heim ("All That Jazz," "The Notebook"), and sound designer Dane Davis ("The Matrix").

The Prisoner or: How I Planned to Kill Tony Blair

Studio: Truely Indie
Director: Petra Epperlein, Michael Tucker
Screenwriter:
Not Available
Starring: Yunis Khatayer Abbas, Benjamin Thompson
Genre: Documentary

Plot Summary:
Baghdad, September 2003: In a middle class house on a quiet street, a family is fast asleep. Without warning, the front door is crashed and American soldiers storm the house looking for weapons and bomb-making material. Cameraman Michael Tucker documents the event as the men in the house are cuffed and forced to kneel in the garden. A search of the house uncovers no incriminating evidence, however Yunis Khatayer Abbas and three of his brothers are taken and detained. Bent on forcing Yunis to confess to crimes he did not commit, his captors press him with bizarre questions about music tastes, sexual preferences and Harrison Ford. His intelligence value exhausted, he is then transferred to Abu Ghraib Prison. The charge: Planning the Assassination of Tony Blair.

Among thousands suffering from food shortages, riots and insurgent attacks, Yunis endures by helping his fellow prisoners and keeping a secret diary. He also forges an unlikely friendship with one of his guards, who he calls "The Good Soldier".

Combining Tucker's embedded footage, Yunis' home movies, testimony from former guard Benjamin Thompson and original comic book art, Tucker and Epperlein trace the moving story of an ordinary man trapped in a Kafkaesque nightmare.

Unique in its presentation and unlikely in its very existence, "The Prisoner or: How I Planned to Kill Tony Blair" details an absurd comedy of errors where one freedom-loving Iraqi journalist learns the true meaning of liberation.
