How to use AZUp
Because they appeared quasi instructions for AZUp use and procedures for the insertion of E2 in AZBox
I prepared a short and precise instructions - exactly what you need to do
btw , I must to mention , ignore wrong "tutorials" with wrong directions
as : you must use Format App :)))) realy funny because AZUp manage partitions of your AZBox ;)
Ignore quasi instructions and use this official instruction from the author of AZUp

We have 3 situation :
I) You have Official FW in your AZBox andyou want to install E2
II) You have E2 in yourAZBox and now you want to install official FW
III) You have E2 in your AZBox and now you want to install new/update of E2

I) You have Official FW in your AZBox andyou want to install E2
Switch off AZBox
Put usb stick with patch.bin (e2)
switch on AZBox
Follow messages on GUI for update official FW (standard procedure)
After about 1 min , your receiver will reboot
Dont remove USB Stick from AZBox !!!
wait for IP adress on VFD of AZBox
Start latest ver of AZUp
Write IP adress in AZUp (see VFD)
Click on button Update
AZUp check for resque mode, also check ver of patch.bin (E2 or official fw)
AZUp create cramfs, Create 3 partition on DOM and formatted them
Copyng E2 kernel in Flash (about 2.5 min)
Copyng E2 files in first DOM partition (about 1 min)
when get popup msg - remove usb stick and wait for reboot (Rebooting... msg on VFD)
New E2 is installed successfully

II) You have E2 in yourAZBox and now you want to install official FW

Switch off AZBox
Put usb stick with patch.bin (Official FW)
switch on AZBox
wait for IP adress on VFD of AZBox
Start latest ver of AZUp
Write IP adress in AZUp (see VFD)
Click on button Update
AZUp check for resque mode, also check ver of patch.bin (E2 or official fw)
AZUp Create 4 partition on DOM and formatted them

when get popup msg - first part of update is done, but dont remove USB stick from AZBOX
wait for reboot , and follow messages on GUI for update official FW (standard procedure)

III) You have E2 in your AZBox and now you want to install new/update of E2

Switch off AZBox
Put usb stick with patch.bin (e2)
switch on AZBox
wait for IP adress on VFD of AZBox

Firstly, it's a complete package, more or less, no need for many additional "operations", changing of files at a specific time of the flashing process and what not. That previous attempt was quite messy and not at all looking good! This one is... well, getting there!

Secondly, the AZUp is now - finally - functioning relatively well. I only needed to reboot once and restart AZUp, in order to flash E2. That eventuality should have been in the Readme, too. The flashing is slow but it does the job and that's good enough fo me!

The "How to" that comes with AZUp is also a little bit more serious, not totally amateurish... This time round some time was taken to actually test and write it down, step-by-step, not like before with a number of steps missing, giving people a headache, sometimes giving them a really hard time, because the author was feeling lazy and irresponsible....

The_Ripper's part of the job, however, is looking much better than the teams, I have to say. Some real progress has been made, from what I can see!

Finally, I was able to:

1) get a signal with my DiSEqC Centauri 16in1 switch and advanced tuner configuration, with DiSEqC v. 1.1, changing just the "uncommitted" command, command order and LNBs;

2) scan pretty well, most of my satellite positions.

What didn't go that well? (I will skip the obvious, like remote buttons not being mapped out yet, no Standby etc.)

A) The machine needed to reboot a few times, 'till I finally got the signal and was able to scan. In other words, E2 is not yet stable, as was expected.

B) Sometimes it boots partially, so one gets pictures but no sound or the signal is quite poor, the picture is blocky and so on. On some channels/sat positions [Iran Music on HB] audio works but on others it doesn't [BBC on Astra2 or on Thor].

Once it all loads properly, one can scan and zap and so on. But one better be patient, in order to get there! And you still won't get it all, as I saw but couldn't hear, frequently.

The machine also froze a few times, as I was trying to zap.

I have a feeling the original FW was able to scan more channels - but I have to run some tests to confirm. Have to go back to original FW, scan and compare.

E2 didn't find anything on 16, 10 & 7'E, 4, 8, 12.5, 15, 18, 24.5 and 30'W.

But it's not entirely E2's fault! The whole thing is not a happy affair, as I have trees with leaves still on them, so grrrr... as they are obstructing the view... On top of that, in Scandinavia Earth has a 4% wobble, so some satellites that were barely visible get out of focus for like 6 months a year, which makes it doubly frustrating sometimes...

The HDMI = DVI, it seems to me. It doesn't give the 1080p option, yet, I'm afraid.

One must go through many menus and activate, for instance, "Multiple Bouquets" option...

AZ HD display isn't showing anything other than "100".

Having done all that I haven't had the time yet [or sleep, for that matter], to test any "plug-ins", of ANY kind... L8r...

Mind, when will they be available, on a support server, please? Emus and all the rest of it, of course...

Going back to original FW 4890 was a smooth affair, using AZUp v. 1.1, with an IP address + one command to "update". Once it copies the old kernel you can close AZUp and proceed with the usual procedure...

Cheers!

G

P.S. If this:

Because they appeared quasi instructions for AZUp use and procedures for the insertion of E2 in AZBox
I prepared a short and precise instructions - exactly what you need to do
btw , I must to mention , ignore wrong "tutorials" with wrong directions
as : you must use Format App :)))) realy funny because AZUp manage partitions of your AZUp ;)
Ignore quasi instructions and use this official instruction from the author of AZUp
...is a feeble and unintelligent, petty little attempt at a stab at me - it's laughable! You will NOT find any such instructions ["must use", "must format apps area"] in whatever I wrote. So, this speaks of the speaker, not of the addressee... and it speaks volumes, loud and clear... Create a straw man, in order to "valiantly" and "masterfully" do battle with this "monster"... Boy, you're a champ! [For crying out loud, grow up!!!]
