Hi all,
I have just purchased 2 mk4 meters(yellow 5 button) both have charging problems one is stuck in a boot loop.
both units have 6 cell (presumably 7.2v) batteries installed and both require 12v power supplies in order to power up
reading posts across the internet and here some people describe having 8 cell batteries... do my units have the wrong batteries installed? If the units were shipped with both types of battery pack is the firmware battery specific? and if so which is correct for my units? also what was/ is the final firmware version/ revision number for these units?.

Thanks Steve,
My units look very much like yours except where the label on your unit reads “Lacuna Systems Ltd” mine read “DSM Mark IV Digital Satellite Meter”, on the screen my units read “DSB Locator mk4” the second line on both units show different firmware revisions the first reads “Version TX2.0.5” and the second unit, the one that is stuck in a boot loop reads, “Version TX2.0.9”
I thought that I would be able to revive the unit stuck in boot loop by cloning from one device to the other but it turned out that the device firmware and the satellite user data are stored on different chips.
After looking around the internet for a while I found a firmware file and was able to load it onto the boot looping unit, (a bit of trial and error to get the file to load before the unit rebooted). The firmware version for this unit now reads “Version TX2.0.8” and I am able to scroll through the menu etc. everything appears ok. I will not be able to test the unit properly until I make a up to date .sat file.
If everything works ok I will upload the firmware file here along with some photos.

I think I might have had more success and much more fun trying to launch these meters into orbit at the end of my boot.
After trying all of the old .sat files listed here I tried making my own using the satloader and satmeter files above. the results have been the same...connecting the meter to a working satellite dish I get no bars on any transponder and the word searching.
does anyone have a working .sat file that I could try?

Update only the "transponder information" (i.e Freq, Symbol Rate, Polarity, and FEC) for the satellite of interest.

11778,V,27500,23,DVB-S,QPSK
11876,H,27500,23,DVB-S,QPSK
10906,V,22000,56,DVB-S,QPSK
10891,H,22000,56,DVB-S,QPSK

try UKmultisat-081210.sat then change the old sky sat files for those above
