Hi,

I want to buy a HD sat receiver that allows me to do inhouse cardshareing (C+NL seca3) and maybe later some sharing with friends.

I have been a doing alot of reading on the DM800 and the (for me) new Coolstream HD1.

I read that it is faster and has better picture quality compared to the the DM800. However this is based on only 1 user experience on a forum.

Since on this forum there are likely to be users of both boxes I would like to have an unbiased advise on which too is better wrt speed, picture quality and cardsharing.
Also I read about problems on taking the C+ NL SECA3 card in the cardslot (without CI)

I a large (supporting)community expected for this box or is the DM 800 a safer bet?

Thx

It is always difficult to ask Dreambox-users their opinion when you want compare receivers. They think they drive Rolls Royce comparing with all others....
I had the same questions before I bought my Coolstream HD1. I read a lot about the Dreambox, but I also made my decision about 1) price, and 2) HDMI
My experience untill now:

- very nice and good looking software (Neutrino)
- extreme good quality in SD and HD
- quick zapping
- sharing with my other receiver as cccam-client

and I pay more than € 100,- less than the Dreambox :D

i have two dm800 and just got my coolstream , because i was used to neutrino (dbox2)

i was able to edit service and bouquet xml with ultraedit with neutrino and not with enigma.

i also use seca3 nl and internal and external cs.

i am not able yet with latest version to read seca3 nl , no cccam with coolstream.

with dm800 a lot off images , plugins and skins available.

with dm800 easy to download and update emu's.

so when price is not a issue , i should take a dm800

Allemaal nederlanders hier zeker :D

I will keep in in english and give my opinion.

If you want to play a bit and know something about linux and stuff you will get a great receiver when you go for the coolstream. The picture quality is great for both SD as HD. Zapping is very fast and the GUI is stable. When you click on a button and you look to the television you are always too late :D

You can connect to cccam using mgcamd, you can add oscam or newcs to use the cardreaders but I am not sure what kind of cards do work at the moment. Oscam can work as a bridge to connect to almost anything so I am not afraid about emu support in the future.

If you want to have others do everything for you, and with this I mean downloading an image with all the bling bling in it then you could better go for the dreambox. I had the same doubts but I am glad I did not pick the dm800 and if I had to choose now the dm800 would never be an option. There are many other receivers out there with enigma2 and cccam support for example. Take a look at the VU+ DUO for example, PLI is supporting it from now on.

groetjes

Allemaal bedankt!

I was tempted to buy the HD1 but instead I ordered a clone DM800 from China since this was the cheapest option for me to get into the 'game'.

Price is really cheap (still dutch ;-) ) so hopefully worth the gamble.

I have the DM800 clone now for a few weeks and I am very happy with it.
It is small (good GF facor), it likes my C+NL card, CCcam works good, picture quality is good and it was cheap (<200 EUR)

Thx!

Don't forget the VU+ Duo lads, a more expensive option but looks very promising. The VU Solo single tuner model will be released soon and this will be cheaper.

If I was walking in your shoes I would chose the Coolstream. It has much better picture quality compared to all dreamboxes. It is even faster in channels opening then the DM. It is not true that there is a lack of support for the HD1. All these old dbox2 groups will support the Coolstream in the future (most of them are actually already active). The coolstream is also very much hardware-mod friendly receiver :)

As an old Nokia dbox2 fan i have always been sceptic to all dream-multimedia devices because of the poor picture and crappy/shitty hardware parts. This time I have bought both receivers to compare them directly. As soon as i compared the picture quality, the Dream gone for selling :) It was original machine, not a Chinese clone. The opportunity to execute an original CCcam and not a ported version may be qualified as the only pros of the Dream.

It really is a d-box3, I guess. :)
