Please forgive my ignorance, as i know nothing yet about a receiver that i'm planning on buying!

The receiver is a Clarke Tech ET 9000 HD Enigma2 (500GB Harddrive), which has conax inbedded.

My questions, 9 in total, are:-

1. How is this receiver correctly flashed to get EMU running (to open additional channels), as was possible with SAMSUNG DSR9500.

2. Is there a step-by-step (for dummies!) guide for flashing this box?

I understand that files (for Softcam etc) are transferred to the receiver through an ethernet.

3. Can a USB Stick be used instead of a router cinnection, when uploading files?

4.Which are the best files... 'Softcam', for example, and if so, how are they uploaded from pc to receiver?

5. Can a USB stick be used (instead of an ethernet cable to router) to upload files etc to the receiver?

6. As this is a HD receiver, will it work with a Plasma TV that is ONLY HD READY?

My current Surround system is connected to my old (to be replaced) Samsung DSR9500 box by optical SP/DIF cable i think it's called.

7. Can someone please tell me what the optical input on this receiver is called, as i've seen 2 different types of optical cable, (i want to be absolutely sure that i can connected this new Clarke Tech receiver to my Surround system)?

8. What is the program used to save channel lists to my pc for this receiver?

and finally,

9. Do i have to upload a boot-loader in order to run softcam files first & or to flash the receiver?

I'd really appreciate some step-by-step instructions, for a beginner, on how to upload firmware/files etc to a Clarke Teech ET 9000HD receiver (and what cables are needed).

hope someone can help!
thanks in advance,
regards,

I'll try to answer some of your questions here goes

1. you need to flash an image to the et9000 - I'm using the team vix image works great
http://www.world-of-satellite.com/showthread.php?9035-ViX-Team-ET9000-Image-v2.2-11-06-2011

2. http://www.world-of-satellite.com/showthread.php?4925-How-to-Flash-ET-9000-Firmware-using-USB-Pen-Drive

3. yes

4. via ftp or telnet

5. yes

6. yes it will work fine

7. S/PDIF Dolby Digital AC3 output (optical cable)

8. The image will give you the channel list (bouquet) once installed with the image, you can tenafer the channel list over to your PC but I can't see why you would want to unless you want to edit it

9. The boot loader is installed by the manufacturer

Cables required
2 x coax cables from the LNBs if your using both tuners
1 x HDMI cable
1 x Ethernet cable from the router or switch to the et9000 if your using a softcam
