Thinking of buying an E-Bike

I am considering buying an E-Bike to get some more exercise and enjoy some nice scenery.
I am getting on in age, so having the ability to have the battery boost my peddling effort will be useful at certain times.
If anyone has experience of one, I would be interested in advice, tips, suggestions etc.
I have heard one bad thing about them but don't know if it's true.
That is, that they are not advisable to be used when raining. Is that true? I have seen numerous reports saying this.

Nice idea, i keep looking at the ones in costco at about £850.00. I keep looking at the option to motorise my current bike as i never go out on it. I just keep looking though and have not done it yet. The odd person who i have spoken to with the e bikes say it really gives them motivation to get out and about.
